Questions About This Tour

Before You Apply

Is Dinara actually on this tour?
Whenever her schedule allows, yes. It's the one tour she's most likely to lead personally, since it's her home ground.
How much walking is involved?
Moderate. Charyn Canyon and the Kolsai Lakes both involve a few hours of walking on uneven trails; nothing technical.
What's the best time of year?
Late spring through early autumn. The high lakes can still have snow at the edges into early June, which is part of the appeal.
Do I need a visa?
Most nationalities, including the US, UK, and EU, can enter Kazakhstan visa-free for up to 30 days. Confirm your passport's specific requirement before booking flights.
