Questions About This Tour

Before You Apply

Do I need to know how to swim for the thermal baths?
No, most baths have shallow soaking pools as well as swimming areas. Bring a swimsuit and towel, both are easy to rent locally too.
Is this a wine-focused trip?
There's a wine-cellar dinner in Eger, but it's not the main focus. It's a relaxed add-on to a city-and-countryside week.
What's the best time of year?
Late spring and early autumn for Lake Balaton; the thermal baths are wonderful any season, including winter.
Do I need a visa?
No, for most nationalities. Hungary is in the Schengen Area, so US, UK, and EU passport holders can stay visa-free for up to 90 days.
